1. What are the benefits of the new technologies shown in "Modern Times"?
     Who gains from these technologies?

The benefits of the ne technologies shown in''Modern Times" are the reduction of cost and raise of efficience.
First , employers can hire less workers due to the machines . The cost of production can reduce.Also , machines are more stable than manpower , the error of pruduction reduces . The monitioring cost reduce too since the supervisors need not check all the time whether the workers are shirking.Moreover , employers can buy more machines for production ,they can enjoy the economie of scale .The cost can be reduced .
Additionally . the employers can implement division of labour . Since the scale of production increase and the systematization of machinery ,the workers just need to learn one of the steps . The training cost could be reduced .Also , due to the principle that practice make perfect . The quality of the products can be guaranteed . Hence attain the economic efficience.
Both employers and employees can gain form these technologies as mention above.


2. What is the effect of these technologies on the main character's life/mood/body?

The main character , Charles Chaplin,owing to the repeating of the same step of work ,become crazy eventually and keep on doing the same action after working . His problem is mental instead of physical because it seems that he lose his mind . I believe that the working atmosphere is important for a worker . If a person keep on doing the same thing again and again , he or she may feel mentally tired just like the character . And finally it will have a bad effects on the production . If i were the employer , I will play some relaxing music in the industry and give some breaks for the workers . It is becauseI believe that workers are one of the important assets for a company .


3. What effects does using computers and the internet have on your life/mood/body?

Actually,I can't imagine that if there is no computers or internet one day.I use computer every day.There is no doubt that we benefit a lot from these technologies like the convenience.For example,I always use internet to search the destination such as using the map . I just need to enter the name of the place then I can get the map automatically .It is more convenient than using the traditional paper map . However , I don't think modern technologies  can shorter the distance between human . We use MSN or e-mail to communicate with our friends and relatives .But is it really good for us to use internet instead of face to face taking to each other?I don't think so . I think computer and internet enhance the quality of our life . On the other hand ,it maybe ruin the real communication of us .
